Pipo M9 firmware update failure. Please help!

Hi, I tried to update the firmware on my m9 today and it failed at downloading something, can't remember, but now it always fails at starting idb. The tablet is stuck in flash mode so unusable. Tried to reset it with reset hole, tried pressing power button for different amounts of time etc... Nothing works. If I connect it to my pc i detects it and is green in rkbatchtool 1.6.

Is there something I can do to save it?

    Log from RKBatchtool

Yes, whatever the update I try it doesn't work. I tried the original, the 0309 cleaned rom, the manufacturer 0309 it always fails at the same place.

Ok I think you may require the RKAndroidTool for the RK3188 but at this time I can't speak from experience and don't wish to make things any worse.

Here is the new version I've seen:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I would use this tool to flash individual parts of Update.img, possibly erasing IDB first but untill some confirmation has been given I would be very careful anything you do would be @YourOwnRisk, I am unable to do any tests myself @ this time.

Hopefully Dansplans will show his face here and after running a few tests maybe he would be able to give you a little better instruction

Re: Pipo M9 firmware update failure. Please help!

I have the new tool and will do some testing and report back.

The 1.6 tool should have worked and is the easiest to use.

I have a customer who flashed the wrong version and then reflashed stock, then a cleaned version, all with the 1.6 tool.

I know you said you got a green light from the tool before flashing, but I will list the steps I had to follow before flashing. I did not need to use the reset button

    1. Start tool and select image to flash.
    2. Hold down back button and connect USB.
    3. Continue holding back button and press power repeatedly until drivers load. Stop pressing power when you see the drivers loading icon. Continue holding back button until drivers complete.
    4. When proper drivers are loaded, the tool should automatically see your tablet and turn green.
    5. Release back button and click on restore to begin flash process.
Once drivers have been installed correctly, you can connect the device by holding the back button and connecting the USB.

**Note that I originally had issues, due to the various tablets/drivers that existed on my system. I used USBDeview as administrator and deleted all of the misc. drivers and storage drivers from my system. When I connected without tapping the power button, the tablet was recognized, but as the wrong device/type. I think the storage drivers installed by default.

I think I may have saved my tablet. I used RKAndroidTool to format the IDB and now doing restore on the 0309 clean rom. Looking good! Thanks guys. Just finished as I was typing the text! It's ALIVE!!!! :tears_of_joy:

Re: Pipo M9 firmware update failure. Please help!

Hi I had the same problem and I found that the is 2 firmwares one for the early version Pipo m9 and one the the newer version. which I have and I think you have also.
I used the1.6 tool you can get it here [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
The firmware you need is M9_update_20130319.img
    you can get it here
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Here are the tools and instructions to root Pipo M9
I used the above and My Pipo M9 works faster than it did with the original 0309 firmware.
and it is now rooted. I am now waiting to find CWM recovery for it.

    hope this helps
    regards JBF

    Hello,

my update process also went foul and my M9 is now bricked.

I would desperately need the RKDevelopTool_Release_Pack_v1.37.zip, but the link on Geekbuying.com does not work.

Would somebody be so kind and make the tool available here or if not permitted, PM me a link, please?

Thank you, I really appreciate your help.
